Wingate Vineyard Ltd t/a Paper Road

Paper Road is a family run boutique vineyard, winery and cellar door situated in the rapidly growing wine region of Opaki, Northern Wairarapa, creating exciting Pinot Noirs and Sauvignon Blanc’s of distinction.

The Vineyard was named “Paper Road” after the many rural roads in NZ that were planned but never formed and only exist on maps.  Our vineyard is on such a road.

2008 was the first vintage and has all sold out and we have now released the 2009 Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Rose. 

Sauvignon Blanc 2009
The nose is unmistakably Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry, green capsicum and lifted fresh fruit notes.  Characteristically sweet citrus and passion fruit flavours, giving a delicious fruit-driven palate which is balanced with zesty acidity giving elegance and length. 

Rose 2009
A vibrant shocking pink rose with an irresistible nose of fresh strawberries and juicy cherries. Mouth filling and lively with a harmonious balance between sweetness and lovely crisp acidity. 

Pinot Noir 2009
A very attractive Pinot Noir, displaying vibrant aromas of raspberries and cherries with hints of thyme and violets. A seamlessly balanced palate with a gentle fleshiness which is supported by some lovely fine tannins and juicy acidity. The oak influence is subtle and adds complexity to the layering of fruit and spice.
