Wycroft Vineyard

Wycroft is a specialist producer of premium pinot noir, on the Waipoua River Terrace near Masterton.  Close-planted with top Dijon clones in the Burgundian manner, the vines are hand-tended and low cropping ensures only premium fruit is harvested.  The challenge of producing such a sensitive grape variety in Wycroft’s cool-climate conditions is rewarded by the intensity of flavour that the wines display.  This is enhanced by traditional winemaking techniques, with the wine maturing in French oak barrels before bottling.

With very small production and strong repeat demand from mailing list customers and fine-dining restaurants, Wycroft and its companion label Wycroft Forbury, sell out quickly.  It is served on the tables of many discerning pinotphiles internationally, and in award-winning restaurants including The French Café and Antoine’s in Auckland, The Boulcott St Bistro and D4 in Wellington, Salute in Greytown and The Postmaster’s House in Arrowtown.
